Carlie R. McCleery

Carlie R. McCleery

Attorney

Carlie is a dedicated family law attorney who brings both personal insight and rigorous legal training to her practice, with a focus on high-conflict and complex divorce litigation. Having witnessed her own parents navigate a difficult divorce, Carlie developed an early and enduring understanding of the emotional and legal challenges families face in crisis.

Carlie gained a competitive drive through years of athletics, including winning two state championships in high school and competing as a Division I Women’s Basketball player at Southern Utah University. She carried that same discipline into her academic career, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in Spring 2021. Carlie’s experience in family law began well before law school. Carlie worked at a family law firm in Utah and later spent a gap year gaining practical hands-on experience at a family law firm in downtown Dallas.

Carlie earned her Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law in Spring 2025. She received the CALI Award for the highest grade in Family Law and was honored with the Ann & Robert Burbridge Outstanding Student Attorney Award for her work in the Texas Tech Family Law Clinic. As a Qualified Student Attorney, she represented low-income clients in contested divorces, modifications, and protective order cases referred through Legal Aid of Northwest Texas.

During her time in law school, Carlie was deeply involved in one of the nation’s top advocacy programs at Texas Tech School of Law where she served on the Executive Board of the Board of Barristers as Vice Chair of Administration and competed on the ABA Client Counseling national team.

Carlie served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Casey Blair of the 86th District Court in Kaufman County, Texas and has experience working on international child abduction matters under the Hague Convention. She also brings a unique perspective from her work as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) where she gave a voice to children in the foster care system and advocated for their best interest.

As a graduate of Dallas Christian School and a proud supporter of the U.S. military, she brings faith, discipline, and service into her practice. Carlie lives in Dallas with her husband and their dog, Echo, and enjoys traveling and watching sports.
